Toone Family Reunion in Grace!

The perfect ending to our summer was a Floyd and Gwen Toone Family Reunion in Grace, Idaho.  We met for lunch at the Niter chapel, and got reacquainted with family we don't see often enough.
Some of Greg and Sherm's kids- cute nieces and nephews.  Alicia took the fancy-dress award!
After a delicious meal, the Toone brothers took turns updating us all on their families.  Here's Curt with cousins Garth and Michael, and nephew Matthew….
and brothers Sherm, Greg and Fred.

The grandkids represented the families in a competition of "Name That Toone", conducted by Ryan.  So fun!  Bryan represented our family well!
Then we had an Ancestor Wax Museum. and "came to life" when someone came up and pushed the button on our chair.  We told a synopsis of their lives,  and Curt and I depicted John and Emma Prosser Toone.
Brittney pretended to be Ann Lacey Bennet, and Steven was her son Enoch.
Trent portrayed (with a Scottish brogue) Peter McIntyre- an ancestor of both mine and Curt's!

And here's Heather as Nellie Bennett- Curt's grandmother.  Connie, Greg and Trent did a great job putting this all together.  It was so much fun, and we learned a lot!
Alicia set up a photo booth outside and took fun family group pictures of everyone. We missed Nathan's family, but all the rest of our family members were able to come.

All these faces just melt my heart!
Sure do love this family of ours!

Family Fun at BYU!

We spent a great day on campus with Heather and Brittney's families- starting with a visit to the newly remodeled Monte Bean Museum.
This must've been Heather giving her kids a snack while waiting for us to get there.  Love their lips!
Lions and tigers and bears- oh my!  (And Bree was able to join us for a little while- always fun!)

And an elephant!  Lexi likes riding on Grandpa's shoulders as much as Owen.

Here's Ari giving the giraffe a "kiss".
Wish I would've taken a picture of the new Boyd K. Packer art gallery- full of his amazing bird carvings and paintings! Here's a photo from a Deseret News article about it- President Packer painting in his yard, and this picture is hanging at the museum.  His son is the curator there, so it seemed like a perfect place to display his works.
Here are a couple of his pieces….so delicate, yet carved from wood.  Pretty amazing talent!
Next we went to the Wilkinson Center to get some yummy BYU ice cream cones…
Curt's wearing the right shirt!

Grandpa and the boys went downstairs to bowl a game, while the girls went to shop at the Bookstore.  Of course I had to get my chocolate covered cinnamon bears and praline fudge fix!

The little girls were just happy to sit down in the Bookstore and read books- cute!  They were rearranging shelves that day, so it was a bit messy, but it didn't bother the girls a bit.

Then we met the guys at the Museum of Art for some fun pictures in front of a Philadelphia City of Brotherly Love sign.
Heather and her girls and I stopped at the Riverwoods on the way home for a carousel ride… (Heather had a free coupon- of course!)  Blurry pictures, but happy smiles!

We ended our fun outing with a romp through the splash pad.  It felt great in the hot Utah sun, and the perfect ending to a fantastic day!

Grandpa Time with the Boys!

The kids always get so excited when Grandpa comes!  I'm usually there for several weeks in the summer, but it's a special treat when Grandpa flies out to join us.  Happy day!
Curt's fighting jet-lag, but I love Owen's sweet smile here! He looks so cozy!
Not a great picture, but for some reason, Curt's wrapping Bryan up with packing tape. Fun and games!
The boys got to choose where they wanted to go, and they picked nearby Trafalga, so Brittney and I (and little kids) tagged along.

Grandpa and Matty are good buddies, and I like Curt's big smile here...

Bryan was the Man on the climbing wall!
Then we went outside for some fun in the sun.
 Two cuties!
 Owen loves his Grandpa Toone!
